I actually really like this picture. I think that it shows several sides of Daddy: He is in a suit, representing that he is educated. He is white haired and bald, representing his experience in life. He is just sitting, looking at the lake/sea/body of water, showing that he is a deep thinker. The large beams in front of him sort of symbolize how much of an anchor he is to his family's lives. The only thing that I can think of that would have made this a better descriptive picture of Daddy would be if Mother was sitting next to him. Perhaps that is why is is looking off into the distance: he is looking for Mother.
